Fashion Sketchbook

French fashion designer and illustrator Cédric Rivrain imbues his detailed pencil sketches with a sensuous, stylish finish in what many might call “high fashion art.” With an amazing attention to detail, Cédric (whose father was a doctor) seemingly has an innate understanding of the body’s various contours and dimensions. In sketching fashion muses such as Kate Moss and Sasha Pivovarova, Cédric underscores that underlying connection between artists and their creative inspirations. It is this connection between artist and model that makes Cédric’s sketches so fun to look at and appreciate.
Although only 31 years old, Cédric has already designed for top names in the fashion industry, including Martine Sitbon and John Galliano at Christian Dior. His training in fashion design clearly resonates in his sketches, illustrations, and other artwork, which has appeared in magazines such as Numéro, Dazed and Confused, Tokion, Stiletto, and A magazine.
Cédric’s latest art exhibition will run until June 16, 2009 at the Brachfeld Gallery in Paris. If you’re in the City of Lights for the summer, you should definitely consider checking this exhibition out!
