Great Lengths

The Chanel Fall 2009 couture collection exhibits Karl Lagerfeld’s experimentation with length. Dresses and skirts that were shorter in the front with longer trains in the back served as the focus of the collection. Models accentuated their pieces with black patterned tights and stiletto booties.

The collection featured rich shades and long trains that gave the collection a regal feel. However, other pieces stole the show, such as a red skirt and jacket with leopard trim and a black cocktail dress paired with red stilettos. The show stealer appeared at the end, as a white crinoline dress with ruffled train served as the show’s grand finale. The white party dress exuded the bold elegance that is synonymous with Chanel couture.

  1. The trains are a bit much for me, but I love the idea of a skirt that subtly shorter in front.
