Cheap Chic: Recessionista

By Rebecca Ridlington • Jan 13th, 2009 • Category: Editor's Faves, Juicy Story, Style

With constant talk of economic recession abounding on every local news station, looking to find budget-friendly pieces is becoming increasingly necessary. However, as we all know, great style can come at a surprisingly great price. I’ve asked a few fashion bloggers to showcase some of their budget-friendly outfits of $100 or less, and offer some tips on finding a great look for less.

Isabel, of Hipster Musings is a self-confessed “thrift hound” who seeks second-hand treasures in addition to investing in some versatile new pieces. Ashleigh from Rantings of a Fashion Addict and Rebecca from The Clothes Horse also suggest seeking unique finds in vintage and secondhand shops. Rebecca notes that one can “find things at thrift shops, [and] stumble across pieces no one else will have for a truly personal wardrobe.”

Jennifer from Sally Jane Vintage runs a vintage shop on eBay with a wide and constantly updated variety of wallet-friendly style options, making her great style finds accessible to style mavens looking for affordable and fashionable garments.

Other suggestions for great style finds at equally great prices are to keep an eye on sales, outlet shops, and bargain hunting on eBay for those lust-worthy designer pieces at a fraction of the price. With the myriad of cost-cutting options available, thankfully, creativity and style aren’t going anywhere.
