Shrimpton Couture has blossomed into an online vintage mecca. Reworked, reconstructed, and designer vintage? Shrimpton Couture appeals to all universal style tastes and desires, and even imbues a spark of magic into the online shopping experience. Owner Cherie has a finely tuned, fashionable eye for all things quirky and classy, so The Supermelon was intrigued by what her musical palate could include. Here, Cherie’s dedicated and innovative team of designers shares their all-time favorite songs to design, relax, and live by.
Cherie, owner of the Shrimpton Couture Emporium:
“Songbird” by Fleetwood Mac
My guy told me that this was his song to me and even though I am a huge FM fan I had never heard it before. I actually made him prove it was on the disk!
“La Vie en Rose” by Edith Piaf
I have a bit of a Piaf addiction and actually own every song she ever produced I think - this is the one most people think of if they know who she is though.

Courtney of Laine Jewelry
“Gin House Blues” by Nina Simone
“What’s a Girl to Do” by Bat for Lashes
“Gin House Blues” is originally a song from 1925, re-recorded by Nina Simone in the 60’s…and I know absolutely nothing about that second song, or how it got on my phone in the first place
but its on there, and I listen to that album sometimes when I’m working.
Tallulah of re:couture
“Money” by Pink Floyd
“The Long Long Winding Road” by Paul McCartney
I guess I am just a vintage girl through and through
Kelly of The Glamourai
“Chick Habit” by April March
It’s catchy and sexy and I never mind when it gets stuck in my head for days!
“I Love My Shirt” by Donovan
A must for true fashion fans!

Alison of Reverie NYC
“L’Appuntamento” by Ornella Vanoni
A beautiful Italian song that I first heard in a movie. It was one of those times where you wait through the credits just to find out what it was. I don’t know what the song is about but it is so pretty that it doesn’t really matter. It makes me feel like I’m living a truly charmed life in a small town in Italy. (Secretly that’s my dream!)
“Wildwood Flower” by Loretta Lynn
Wildwood flower is a song that reminds me of my childhood. Growing up in the south I heard my fair share of classic country songs, so although I’m not really a country music fan, I’ll always have a sweet spot for the classics. And you really can’t go wrong with Loretta Lynn!
Christine of RSVP
I’m a bit weird cause all I listen to with earphones are sound
effects: “approaching thunderstorm” and “torrential rainfall”
being my favourites.
Louise of Louise Black
“Caravan” by Duke Ellington
“Aphrodisiac” by Bow Wow Wow
I am listening to these to try not to focus on the upcoming Project Runway debut and just focus on my line! [Editor’s Note: Louise is one of the contestants on Project Runway Season 6!)

Angie of Norwegian Wood
“Ten Miles Wide” by The Builders and the Butchers
This band has a great stompin’ dirty bluegrass feel, it just gets me in the mood to get down to it and WORK, while singing along of course.
“Feet Asleep” by Thao Nguyen & the Get Down Stay Down
Thao has such a unique voice, I was sucked right in the first time I heard this band. It’s the perfect music to work to, not so manic as to become annoying when I’m dealing with a complicated project, but also not so mellow that I’m tempted to take a nap.
For delightful vintage, check out Shrimpton Couture.
