Wanderlust Festival 2009

It seems like each summer there is some new destination music festival that bears very little difference to the ones that came before it. This year’s lineups have been looking particularly identical, which is why we couldn’t have picked a better time for the introduction of an original idea. Those of you who are getting fed up with the increasing uniformity, inflated ticket prices, and obnoxious sponsors associated with many of today’s festivals should check out Wanderlust, which promises to redefine the destination festival experience. Against the breathtakingly beautiful backdrop of Squaw Valley in Lake Tahoe, CA, the 3-day festival will provide not only amazing bands, but also the world’s leading yoga instructors.

A variety of yoga classes, led by some of today’s most notable yogis, will take place each morning in the Village at Squaw Valley. If yoga isn’t your thing, there will also be a fun variety of activities, acoustic performances and local vendors on Saturday and Sunday for daytime entertainment. Once you’re all relaxed and centered, a cable car will take you to an evening of musical discovery atop the Sierra Nevadas. The impressive lineup includes Michael Franti & Spearhead, Spoon, Andrew Bird, Jenny Lewis, Broken Social Scene, Girl Talk, Mates of State, and more.

Where: Squaw Valley USA in North Lake Tahoe, CA
When: Friday, July 24 - Sunday, July 26, 2009
Tickets: $124.50 for weekend music only pass; $169.50 for both music and yoga. See WanderlustFestival.com for other options including the very luxurious-sounding VIP packages.
