Real Style: Kirsty Lee, London

One of the best British words (at least to Americans!) is “cheeky.” It was great when the Spice Girls used it in their interviews and it is great now. Kirsty Lee of That’s Just My Vibe fame inspires us to be cheeky. Kirsty epitomizes London style - glamorous grunge that is somehow understatedly elegant. Whether she is out on the town in a micro-mini and Marni heels or sporting her trusty Doc Marten’s with leggings and an oversized flannel shirt, Kirsty manages to make anything pack a punch. She has serious attitude and isn’t afraid to go after what she wants - and all the while, she looks fierce!
Your trademark look? Big hair and inappropriate shoes. They are the die-hard constants while everything else varies. And I wear too much black.
Gig? TV production by day, fashion blogging and journalism by night. Sleeping when I’m dead.
Inspiration? People who wear black better than I do. And people who wear colour.
Currently coveting? Various two finger rings on etsy. And a beautiful Comme des Garçons coat that I saw on sale but still couldn’t afford.
Grooving to? Patrick Wolf. Always.
Can’t live without… YSL Touche éclat. I sleep about 4 hours a night so this stops me from scaring small children on the tube.
Most beloved finds? An amazing black studded Richard Nicoll dress I bought in a sample sale for about 80% off. Still the most expensive dress I’ve ever bought! I’d happily die and be reincarnated as this dress.
Closet envy? Daphne Guinness, but who doesn’t?
Favorite fashion era? London in the 60s; the idealised version. When I was 17 I drove an old mini with a Union Jack roof and thought I was a bit of a mod.
You will never wear… Uggs. Is comfort that important? Really?
Favorite haunts? The 100-meter radius around my flat in East London has everything you need from amazing little art galleries to the best vintage shops, bars and 24 hour bagels. I’m too lazy to leave.
You may not know… Until two years ago I only owned one pair of heels.

I love Kirsty - she inspires me to make more effort.. I’m in London too & the fashion that the girls here rock is so bold & yet effortless all at once… I love the London look… it’s the greatest place in the world to be inspired to dress well.
