The Sorting Hat Hotel

I’ve never been to Poland before. But if I decide to go, Blow Up Hall 5050 will be my choice for accommodations. Finally, Hogwarts for hotels. Not because of its gothic architecture or quidditch field, but because it’s magic…reservations work like the sorting hat as guests must select a series of pictures, colors, and numbers. Depending on their combination, Blow Up Hall assigns a corresponding room. Armed with an iPhone (no cumbersome keys here), you must search to find the match. Every room is different, perfectly suited to each guest’s personality and preferences.

Electronic artist Rafael Lozano Hemmer designed Blow Up Hall, which derives its name from the 1966 art film, to break tradition. It is technologically advanced and virtually interactive. Don’t be surprised by the hidden cameras, whose images are scrambled and displayed in the lobby; it’s only a magnificent installation, an artistic dream. And there is no shortage of luxury, as the iPhone/room key comes pre-loaded with concierge service. If you want to turn on the T.V. or crave a late night snack, the world is at your fingertips. Even though it is set against the more historic Poznan, Blow Up Hall is the ultimate vacation, a truly modern smart house. Harry Potter, here I come.
