Happy Kiehl’s Day

In 1647, Peter Stuyvesant planted a pear tree on the corner of Thirteenth Street and Third Ave (the location of the Kiehl’s flagship store). The pear tree was declared the “oldest living thing in New York City” in 1862, and stood proudly until it was struck in an accident five years later.
On November 12, 2003, Kiehl’s re-planted a pear tree at the exact same location, now known as “Pear Tree Corner,” in honor of the community; and November 12th was proclaimed as “Kiehl’s Day” by NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg.
In honor of the pear tree, Kiehl’s has a limited edition Pear Tree collection that consists of their favorite products in the pear scent. In addition to their collection, Kiehls.com is having a vote for their next formulation in which Kiehl’s loyalists can come to the site and choose what product will be added to the Pear Tree collection.
