Sofia Coppola for LV
By Dhani Mau • Oct 6th, 2008 • Category: Trends
Thus far, Sofia Coppola’s relationship with Louis Vuitton has consisted of front row seats at shows, a friendship with Louis Vuitton creative director Marc Jacobs, and starring with her father (acclaimed filmmaker Francis Ford Coppola) in Vuitton’s “core values” ad campaign. Soon, the filmmaker and style icon will also design a range of handbags and shoes for the luxury brand.
This is not the first time LV has engaged in a designer collaboration, nor is it Coppola’s first design gig. Vuitton has had some well-known collaborations, including the very successful Takashi Murakami line and, most recently, Commes des Garçons designer Rei Kawakubo, whose limited edition monogram leather bags are available only in Japan. Coppola, whose designs will be available worldwide, interned with Karl Lagerfeld in high school and launched her own clothing line in Japan in 1998 called Milkfed. We can’t wait to see what she comes up with for LV.
